FROM MICHIGAN.GOV EXECUTIVE ORDER 2020-42: GUIDANCE FOR BUSINESS
DETROIT, MI -- The hardest-hit area in Michigan for coronavirus COVID-19 cases and deaths is now showing the cases by ZIP Code and heat maps.
The map was unveiled late Friday, April 17.
According to the state Department of Health and Human Services, Detroit has 7,414 cases and 582 deaths.
The rest of Wayne County, outside of Detroit, and Oakland County have the next largest set of numbers. Wayne County has 5,819 cases and 462 deaths and Oakland County has 5,901 cases and 442 deaths
While new cases took a dive, new deaths reported did not. Michigan has 134 new COVID-19 deaths and a total of 2,227. There have been 95 or more deaths every day since April 6.
After a slowdown in testing from the weekend, testing has ramped back up, with 4,586 tests done on Wednesday, April 15 – the most recent day test totals are available for. Roughly 30 percent of tests have come back positive in the past week.
More testing is coming, as the state is opening 13 new testing sites and increasing testing capacity by 40 percent.
